My name is Timi; I am a qualified and experienced Cosmetic Chemist and Teacher.
I started learning about making cosmetics in 2014 with no knowledge at all. My first guide was a book by Star Ketchara from the School of Holistic Cosmetology, now known as Formula Botanica. It was great for a beginner like me.
Since then, I have completed formal trainings to be a Cosmetic Chemist, I have done numerous CPD workshops and, of course, I've spent much time and money learning about ingredients and trying out different formulas. I read a lot, experimented a lot, and, yes, made tons of mistakes, too.
I always wished for one place where I could find information and inspiration I needed so I wouldn't need to jump from tab to tab in my browser, and I wouldn't need to spend time visiting countless websites. I didn't want another course; I wanted a one-stop-shop kind of site. That's why I created Upscaled which can be even better with your contribution, ideas and feedback.
I aim to save you time and money in your research and help you be more creative in your formulations. It's 2025, and the market needs new and innovative ideas. It doesn't have to include super fancy ingredients but you can definitely create cosmetics with stunning colours, shapes, or textures in order to stand out.
Becoming a good formulator is about practice, analysis, and continuous effort. I am here to help you become more skilled by offering efficient, affordable learning and growth methods.
